For some time, there has been much talk about Microsoft relaunching their Search facility under a different name, and we think that now, it's perhaps fair to presume that that name will be 'Kumo'.
We're not the first to discuss Kumo (which, incidentally, translated from Japanese means 'Cloud' or 'Spider'), in fact, we're far from it. Many people have blogged about the rebrand, the potential it has to attract users within the Search environment, and the possibly of Kumo breaking the Google monopoly. Whilst this is all very interesting, we don't think that there is much chance of this happening and we're more interested to hear what your thoughts are, and whether you'd choose Kumo over Google.

The reason for our skepticism toward Kumo lies in the fact that this is just another rebrand, which Microsoft seems to have undertaken over recent years. Microsoft, MSN, Hotmail, Live Search, Live, Windows Live and Windows are all examples of the various brands which have been thrust upon us by Microsoft. So where exactly will Kumo fit into all of that? Would it not just be simpler to type 'G-O-O-G-L-E' as opposed to remembering all those names, or rather, remembering which one is dedicated to Search?
Is it not the time to launch a single, all-singing-all-dancing brand which may just challenge Google within our life-time?
As I said, we want to gauge your thoughts on Kumo and whether you'd use the facility to carry out future searches. So jot your thoughts in the comment box below; it would be great to hear from you guys.
